We had ‘muddy puddles’ of fun at this show! We watched at the Lighthouse Theatre in Poole, Dorset but it is travelling literally all over the UK until October 2014!
You could feel the excitement as we arrived at the Theatre! Peppa & George Pig t-shirts everywhere and lots of very happy faces. Unfortunately we did have a small incident with the fold up seats; they have quite a strong spring back and the weight of a 2 year old doesn’t quite stop it closing!!!
Also, we had to make a trip back out to the Peppa merchandise shop to buy a light up flashing windmill, which nearly everyone seemed to have! (£7.50!!!) It is still being loved at home though 🙂
The show itself was loud, colourful and very lively! All the familiar characters are there and you will recognise bits of the storyline from some of the TV shows, very cleverly woven together. My fave character was Mr Bull…sooo funny!
The characters are actually puppets operated by adults (‘they have grown up’s stuck to them’ according to my 3 year old). I thought this might spoil the effect but it didn’t at all. The children (2 and 3) were absolutely gripped for the whole show (90 mins incl break). There were enough laughs aimed adults through the show to keep the grown ups giggling too!
The children are not expected to sit still through the show, there are opportunities to get up and dance, shout, wave, and jump every couple of minutes! Our fave bits were roaring like a dinosaur, following the dance actions and of course ‘jumping in muddy puddles!’ Watch out you actually get wet, thanks to the cast spraying water pistols! Great Fun!
