After the Christmas festivities,
I’m sure you’re looking for some fun activities!
I’ve created this guide with lots of ideas that are free,
Whilst also being fun, I’m sure you can agree!
Now that all the festivities are done, I’m sure you’re looking for some super activities to keep the kids entertained! Check out the suggestions below for some free ideas.
🐦Make a bird feeder🐦
With lots of pinecones outside, this activity is a super idea! When going on a walk ask your kids to find some pinecones. Then, take them home and cover them in peanut butter and birdseed. After, let your little ones choose a place to hang the bird feeder up and wait for lots of birds to come!
📚Visit your local library📚
Going to your local library is not only a great way to get your kids interested in reading, but there are also so many fun and free activities for them to take part in! Before planning a visit to your local library, why not create a reading challenge for your kids. Some ideas for a reading challenge are to find a book with a character the same age as you or read a book that is set in the snow! This is a great way to get little ones excited about finding a story to match the challenge.
🎲Boardgame night🎲
Who doesn’t love playing board games? A great idea to get the whole family together and get competitive is to have a family board game night! You can choose three of your favourite games and either work in teams or play against each other to see who is the ultimate board game master. Make sure to get some snacks and drinks because everyone knows board game nights are better with treats! You can find a list of our favourite board games here.
🧁Get baking🧁
Get your little ones interested in cooking by making some delicious sweet treats! You can either decide to bake their favourite treat from scratch or decorate premade cupcakes or biscuits with icing and sprinkles. If you need some inspiration on super cupcakes to make have a look at our Frozen cupcakes here or our rainbow cupcakes here.
🎨Get creative🎨
This is a great activity for a rainy day! Show off your artistic skills by creating some super artwork. You can do anything as simple as colouring out pictures, painting your own art on a piece of paper or even having a go at one of our super crafts on our Facebook page! One of my favourites that Picniq HQ has made is this amazing Elmer the Elephant Milk Bottle which you can find here. Make sure to check out the rest of our videos for some craft inspiration!
🌳Visit a kids trail🌳
Wrap up warm and why not explore a super kids trail! Going on a kids trail is a great way to get the kids outside for a winter walk whilst having lots of fun. Once on your activity trail make sure to take lots of pictures! You can find our favourite kids trails here.
🍕Make homemade pizza🍕
If pizza is a family favourite in your house, this is sure to be a massive hit! Plan either a fun lunch or dinner and make delicious pizza baguettes. All you need for the recipe are baguettes, pizza sauce, cheese and all your favourite toppings! You can also make it more fun by asking your child to make your pizza and you make theirs.
🚲Go on a bike ride🚲
Get the whole family activity after the Christmas season and take a bike ride! There are lots of lakes and parks which have cycle paths for the whole family to enjoy together.
🔍Visit a museum🔎
Going to a museum is a great activity to do as a family! Plus, there are so many fun museums with different features such as my favourite, World Museum Liverpool which even has an aquarium so you can see all your favourite sea creatures for free. You can find our list of super museums all around the country here.
