This brilliant museum has just been voted ‘Museum of the Year 2015’ and is definitely worth a visit! There are plenty of free family activities on offer indoors and out and even something for the very tiny ones. Join in with music, dance and drama workshops and watch the children use their imaginations and creativity while having a great time!
Kent County Show; Maidstone; 10-12 July, 8am-6pm, Adult £18.50, Child £5
This annual county show is jam packed with entertainment and fun for all the family. Expect to see lots of different animals, demonstrations, tasty food and activities everyone can enjoy. The Met Police Horses will be in action and the mighty Spitfire will be in the sky along with the magnificent Red Arrows. It promises to be an exciting day out for everyone!
Super Science Month at Discover Children’s Story Centre; London 11-12 July, from 12:30pm, Adult £5, Child £5, kids aged 3+
Bring the kids along to Dr Bob’s story laboratory where they can have messy fun creating their own jar of lava and following a story trail looking for fascinating scientific facts. Afterwards explore the rest of this brilliant story centre and all the magical things there are to do!
Bournemouth University Festival of Learning; Bournemouth, 11 – 17 July, FREE, kids aged 3+
This festival of learning is returning for its third year and promises a week full of different events, workshops and activities for all the family. There will be kids camps, arts, crafts and science experiments and a Jurassic fossil fun workshop not to be missed. Saturday 11th August is a specific family day and Chris Packham from Springwatch is making a special appearance too sharing his stories and encounters with the animal world and his views on conservation.
The Summer Mile Raceday at Ascot Racecourse; Ascot, 11 July, Adults premier £20, Kids free
Why not enjoy a family day out at the races! Grownups can watch top class racing, while for kids there is lots of fantastic entertainment to occupy them for hours in the new Family Enclosure with fairground rides, arts and crafts and storytelling sessions with the Gruffalo. Visit this fun dinosaur park with all the family and enjoy a fantastic evening of entertainment including games and great music from the band ‘Aftershock’. The most amazing aircraft will take to the skies over the beautiful Swansea Bay for the annual Wales National Airshow. See the spectacular Red Arrows, the Typhoon and the iconic Battle of Britain Memorial Flight as well as other fascinating civilian and military planes and helicopters. There will be plenty of ground attractions, an interactive military village and kids will enjoy all the entertainment on offer. Look out – there be Pirates about! Bonny Ann and Scary Mary have invaded The Tall Ship with some great activities planned for all visiting ship mates. Kids can enjoy daily treasure hunts, storytelling and digging for buried treasure. They can even make your very own parrot ooo-aaarr!

This ancient historical Anglo – Saxon burial site is holding a free event where kids can join the mighty Ealdfaeder for an adventure in search of dragons. There will be lots of energetic activities including knocking out guards and fighting giants, trolls and goblins.
