Adventure Wonderland Bournemouth

Written by Claire

Adventure Wonderland is a mini ‘theme park’ aimed at families with young children with an ‘Alice in Wonderland theme’. There are a whole host of things to do (around 30) including rides, an animal ‘cuddle corner’, trampolines and a HUGE indoor play area.

We visited Adventure Wonderland during  mid week, term time  so it was very quiet and this gave us a great chance to check out all the different areas without queues.

There are a good number of rides, almost all of which are suitable for toddlers, with just a few (including the mini roller coaster and galleon) having height restrictions. Our favourites were the caterpillar train which goes in and out of a tunnel, the spinning teacups and the yoyo swing merry- go- round. The staff were really friendly and this made the whole experience even better!

Inside is one of the largest soft play adventure areas I have seen, named, ‘Wild Thing’. It is huge and has so many different areas to play, including nets, walkways, slides, tunnels and an ‘air blaster’. The children really loved this area and the grownups did too… there is a canteen cafe serving snacks and drinks and lots of tables and squishy sofas to relax on.

I felt that under 5’s would need supervision if you allow them to use the large ‘Wild Thing’ equipment as there is quite a fast/ steep slide and a small child could easily feel disorientated by all the walkways and be unable to find a way out. However, there is also a spacious ‘toddler’ area with slides  and a climbing frame which I felt was much more fun and engaging than the usual toddler zones. During the winter months when the main park is closed it is still possible to use the ‘Wild Thing’ play area and there is a reduced entry fee for this.

There are various events during the day where you can meet the Alice in Wonderland characters. We particularly enjoyed story time with Alice.

There is another separate cafe and all around the park there are picnic benches so depending on the weather you can choose if you want to take along your own food or not. Highchairs are available. Baby changing facilities are available within one of the cubicles in the ladies toilets.

This attraction will provide you with a good day out if you have young children or have children of differing ages as there are lots of differing activities and rides that will keep both your toddler and 7+ yr old happy!
