Are you totally fed up with the amount of cold viruses which seem to have taken an unwelcome permanent residence in your home? Did you know it’s not just oranges which contain vitamin C. Strawberries, mango, pineapple and kiwi are also packed full of vitamin C, so we’ve found some simple smoothie recipes to try which are perfect for lifting and shifting those unwanted colds. They are bursting with yummy fruit and definitely don’t have a yucky taste, so great for the little ones too!
The Ultimate Cold Buster
This smoothie is perfect to drink anytime to keep your immune system tip top and fighting those nasty viruses.
What you need:
3 peaches, cut into pieces
5 strawberries
50g pineapple, cut into chunks
2 oranges, peeled (plus extra segments to top the smoothie)
2 tbsp greek yoghurt
75ml orange juice
3 ice cubes
Whizz all the ingredients together until smooth, and enjoy!
Sunshine in a Glass
This fruity smoothie juice is particularly yummy at breakfast time and will brighten up your day.
What you need:
1 orange, peeled
1 grapefruit, peeled
60g pineapple, cut into chunks
1 mango, cut into pieces
1 banana
Splash of orange juice
3 ice cubes
Add all the ingredients and process until smooth. You can alter the thickness of your drink by increasing or decreasing the amount of orange juice used.
Strawberry and Kiwi Layer Smoothie
Both strawberries and kiwi fruit have high vitamin C content, so this fun looking smoothie is sure to keep those blocked noses at bay.
What you need:
Kiwi smoothie layer –
3 kiwi fruit, peeled
1 banana
2 ice cubes
Strawberry smoothie layer –
6 strawberries (plus extra to top the smoothie)
1 banana
1 tbsp greek yoghurt
Blend the kiwi smoothie first and pour into a glass, then blend the strawberry smoothie and pour this on top of the kiwi layer. Top with chopped strawberry and enjoy!
Mango Smoothie
This sweet and tasty smoothie will be a hit with the kids.
What you need:
1 mango, cut into pieces
1 banana
230ml yoghurt
2 tbsp honey
3 ice cubes
Add all the ingredients and process until smooth. If you like your’s really sweet, add more honey.
Strawberry and Peanut Butter Smoothie
This smoothie tastes like a peanut butter and jam sandwich!
What you need:
1 banana
100ml milk
2 tbsp peanut butter
5 fresh strawberries, cut in quarters
Just process everything together until smooth and enjoy!

Why not make extra smoothies and freeze some to make healthy fruity ice lollies. Perfect for when your little one is poorly and you’re struggling to get them eating and drinking. Packed full of vitamins, they will ease sore throats and help with their recovery.
