Our Top 10 Family Beach Trip Survival Hacks

Written by Louise Winter

During a recent visit to the seaside, I couldn’t help but think (and pray) that there just has to be a way of making the beach pilgrimage easier and less stressful for us parents. So I put the baby brain to one side, put my thinking cap on and have found 10 tried and tested (yay they actually work) hacks to make the whole ‘going to the beach’ experience more fun!

1. Use Resealable bags…for everything!

Freezer bags or sandwich bags are great to store spare clothes, wet swimming costumes, and even your mobile phone – perfect for keeping the sand out!

2. Take dried snacks

The sand will brush off easily (we’ve all experienced an ice cream in the sand drama) and the wasps won’t be quite so keen if you avoid getting sticky faces and hands. Check out a yummy beetroot crisps recipe here.

3. Take a tablecloth to sit on

A tablecloth won’t store as much sand as a towel or blanket and will brush off easily with minimal shaking required!

4. Don’t forget the Talc!

Top Tip: Sprinkle Talcum Powder on to wet/salty/sandy skin and it will easily brush away!

5. Store your belongings in a rolled up nappy

It might feel slightly – errmmmm – wrong, but it really does keep your valuables safe!

6. Take Beach Towel Clips

This genius invention will stop that random gust of wind from blowing your tablecloth a mile down the beach! Buy them here. (cannot be affiliated)

7. Use a Portable Folding Table

8. Put the kids in Swim Shoes

With multiple uses, these fun shoes not only protect little toes from sharp shingle and slippery stones, but they are also great to use abroad when walking on hot sand! Buy them here.

9. Take a pop up tent

10. Dress little ones in a Sun Suit

Cover up delicate skin with a sun suit which has UV protection in the fabric. Of course only the covered areas will be protected from the sun so you will still need to slap the sun cream on exposed skin regularly, but it will reduce the risk of sun burn. I just love this cute frozen sun suit which I’m sure the little ones will love :-). Buy it here.

I really hope you find my top 10 beach hacks useful and if you have any other beach related stress busting ideas, please do share them with me! 🙂
