The Winter Garden
One of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the UK during the last hundred years has created a stunning green world in the heart of the city. Housing over 2,500 plants from around the world the building is 70 m long and 22 m high (that’s 5,000 domestic greenhouses!). A wide range of refreshments and facilities are available. With over 750 acres of beautiful countryside including the Trans-Pennine way, a nature reserve and cycle routes, there are loads to do that won’t cost a penny! Millhouses Park
Fancy soaking Dad or drenching Mum? Then Millhouses Park is your next stop! Home to Splash Water Play is located on the site of the old swimming pool and lido. It is an interactive play area and includes an Archimedes screw, hand pumps and seesaws that pump water into a large channel, where it can be dammed in several places before being scooped by a water wheel and fed into a recycling tank.
