Up and down the country there are many stunning forests offering great days out for the family. You can go for walks to absorb the magical atmospheres, build dens in your very own parts of the forests or even go for a family cycle ride. We have gathered together a selection we thought you might enjoy.

Hatfield Forest, Essex

Hatfield Forests is an old Royal Hunting Forest that you can explore using some of the many footpaths. In the forests there are ancient trees, some as old as 1,200 years, plus 3,500 species of wildlife.

On a walk through this stunning woodland you will see plenty of wildlife, plants, trees and also the deepest gorge in the south west of England. You can visit the dramatic White Lady Waterfall and the series of whirlpools known as the Devils Cauldron.

The areas scenery is simply stunning with acres of trees and a river carving through the landscape.
