It’s October and the kids are off so it’s time to get out and about and enjoy some autumn sunshine. This half term there are some fantastic events taking place at an attraction near you and here’s my list of things NOT to miss!
Frightwater Valley; Lightwater Valley, North Yorkshire

There are a variety of spooky activities planned for the half term and Halloween at Lightwater Valley. If you’re feeling brave then head to frightwater valley for a spooktacular experience! Be warned – the darker the night, the scarier the fright!

Halloween Spooktacular; Tropical Butterfly House, Wildlife and Falconry Centre, Sheffield
22nd – 31st October
For a fun-filled half term day out this is the place to visit with the kids. Meet all sorts of Halloween characters on a haunted hayride, wicked witches will be on hand to entertain you during spooktacular free-flying bird show, and not forgetting plenty of pumpkin carving! Find out more.
Spoo- Quay! Hartlepool Maritime Museum
28th & 29th Oct 5.30-9pm
Things are getting spoo-quay in the evenings, this Halloween at the Hartlepool’s Maritime Experience. There will be creepy crawlies to hold, Mr Twister the magician, craft workshops, storytelling on board HMS Trincomalee, refreshments and more. There is also an awesome pumpkin competition! Tickets £5

If you aren’t afraid of ghosts, head to the National Children’s Museum and join the ghostbuster on a ghastly ghosty tour through the museum to track down and hopefully capture some old souls! Visit the haunted mansion to explore your spookier side and hear some scary-ish stories, too. You can also get involved in some creepy crafts and get dancing to some truly terrifying tunes every single day during the half term. Find out more.
Autumn Glory; Harewood House, Leeds
22nd – 30th October
Celebrate this beautiful time of year with all the family and enjoy some brilliant autumn themed outdoors activities which include a woodland trail, talks about various bird species, and a forage through the woods. Go Ape! Grizedale, Cumbria
Bring the tribe to this exciting outdoor Go Ape course, set on the side of a hill it feels seriously high up! The course will let you fly over 200m across the top of Grizedale Beck and you will get to see a great view of the forest canopy.
