We’re now in March which means we can almost reach out and touch Spring, yippee! The kids may have just gone back to school after half term, but they are on holiday again at the end of the month as we celebrate Easter! So, if you’re saving your pennies in preparation for their two weeks off, don’t panic because we’ve found some FREE days out to keep them occupied this month.
Redwings Horse Sanctuary Oxhill; Warwickshire
Redwings is home to hundreds of rescued ponies, horses, mules and donkeys, and really is a lovely day out! The children will learn about all the hard work that goes into giving these wonderful animals the best quality of life, and there is even the chance to adopt one of the animals!

Corfe Castle Museum; Wareham, Dorset
This small, but interesting museum is located on the ground floor of Corfe town hall. There are plenty of objects from Corfe’s past which include Stone Age and dinosaur items and the kids will love the dinosaur footprints! The village itself is also beautiful and home to the iconic ruins of Corfe Castle.

Bug House at World Museum Liverpool; Liverpool

This attraction located within the World Museum is perfect if your kids are crazy about creepy crawlies! There are scorpions, spiders, centipedes and beetles to meet as well as other critters, plus you’ll learn about the lives of insects including how hard bees work!

Drew’s Pond Wood Local Nature Reserve; Devizes, Wiltshire
There is over seven acres of stunning nature reserve to explore on one of the fascinating walks that you can take here. Get the kids wildlife spotting as you stroll round, as the area is home to badgers, buzzards and owls as well as much more.

Tollcross Children’s Farm; Glasgow
Tollcross Children’s Farm is a wonderful place to take the kids for a couple of hours. You’ll see a random mix of adorable animals, including horses, peacocks, llamas, sheep, pigs and a pair of lovebirds. Learn all about the animal world, the life of insects and also see the story of Cock Robin in 3D.

Wollaton Hall and Deer Park; Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
This very grand building is home to the National History Museum which is home to three quarters of a million items! Wow! You can also take a family wander around the grounds where I am sure the kids won’t take long to find the play area, and on the 19th March Science in the Park is coming to Wollaton Hall! There will be loads of fun activities and demonstrations for children (and adults) of all ages which you don’t want to miss!

RSPB Ribble Discovery Centre; Lytham St Annes, Lancashire
There is so much wildlife to see at this birds conservation centre on the end of the Ribble Estuary. There are guided walks, varying species of birds depending on the season, and the kids will enjoy the colouring and badge making that they can do. There are family events during the year so check their website before you visit.

Get the little ones learning about the history of one of the most famous cities in the world at this fantastic museum. They will learn about London in the Roman and Medieval times, as well as how the city coped during the war, plague and The Great Fire!

Bring the little ones here for a run around amongst the two acres of wild green land along the banks of Regents Canal. There’s plenty of wildlife that hang out there so keep your eyes peeled for bats, geese, reed bunting and kingfisher.
