The Durham Streets Summer Festival; 29th – 30th August, free, all ages
In the centre of Durham the streets will come alive with a number of dazzling and entertaining performances that are sure to entertain the family over the bank holiday weekend. You will be able to see daring acrobatic performances, laugh at some comedy and enjoy lots more fantastic family entertainment.

Food Festival, Cannon Hall Farm, Barnsley; 28th -31st August, 10am – 8pm, small fee, all ages
Visit Canon Hall over the bank holiday weekend to enjoy a whole bunch of tasty treats and some family entertainment. There will be cookery demonstrations, food stalls and for the kids chocolate making, a bouncy castle, face painting and lots more. There will still be a charge to visit the farm and parking costs £3.

The Siege of Chester, Chester Racecourse and Chester City Centre; 29th – 31st August, free
Visit Chester over the weekend to step back in time as the city centre will be transformed by Europe’s largest re-enactment society. They will be recreating the Great Siege of the city among other events. At 2.30pm on Sunday and 2pm on Monday a huge re-enactment of the Battle of Rowton Moor is planned at Chester Racecourse.

Bring the family along to this colourful and lively carnival in Leeds. This is the Longest running authentic Caribbean carnival parade in Europe. Dance along to the Caribbean beats, be amazed at the dazzling costumes and enjoy some delicious food.

Shrewsbury Steam Rally, Onslow Park; 30th – 31st August, Adult £12 Child £1, all ages
All the family will enjoy exploring this fair where there’s going to be a range of steam engines and vintage vehicles of all shapes, designs and eras on display. There will be over 1,000 exhibits in total. In the ‘Working Field’ there will be live demonstrations showing how the farming industry has changed throughout the years. For the kids there will be vintage fairground rides and birds of prey displays to watch.

Lady Labouchere, the previous owner of Dudmaston Estate, used to enjoy teddy bear’s picnic’s to celebrate her birthday. So the National Trust are throwing their very own picnic for all to enjoy where there will be lots of fun, games and of course teddies. Just make sure you take along your own teddy.
