Spring is in the air and it means it’s time to get outdoors and have some fun! We will keep are fingers crossed for plenty of sunny (or at least not rainy days) . Here are some fun things we plan on doing!
1) Planting!
To keep things simple I grow strawberries and sunflowers in a terracotta pots with my little ones. We take photos every few days as a record of the changes that take place.
Planting a vegetable garden is a great way to teach children how plants grow and where their food comes from. One of the easiest ways is by getting a grow bag (usually quite cheap) and planting some seeds or baby plants in them.
2) Fly a kite
I instantly get the Mary Poppins song in my head… but this is a great outdoor activity to do. After a few crashes they will get the hang of it. and you can even attempt to make your own!
3) Have a teddy bears picnic!
I love picnics, I love everything about them! Buy or make a selection of little treats to pack away, keep some drinks chilled, pack a blanket and enjoy eating outdoors. Don’t forget ted! Find your nearest park on our website or go to the beach.
4) Go for a walk
Not just to the shops, go for a mini hike you can find some great ones all over the UK suitable for children; from ones around you local nature reserve or exploring your local woods (pack a picnic too?).
5) Blow Bubbles
This favourite pastime will entertain the kids for ages! Get some of the bottles or make your own with some washing up liquid- you can even get bubble guns, bubble machines and more exciting toys.
6) Draw on the patio with chalk
theburghbaby Every child should get to do this! Draw some landscapes for fun photographs, write your name or even draw hopscotch for everyone to play, let everyones imagination run wild.7) Collecting fallen flowers on a stick
Blossom and new flowers are either falling or fallen on the ground already. We picked the fallen ones up and made a colourful flower kebab!
8) Make a daisy chain
Another one that I am sure you did when you were a child. Nice and easy and they are pretty too! Pick them then make a small hole in and thread the next daisy through the hole.
Spring is the time to enjoy being outdoors after the long dark winter, any of these activities are great and if you want more ideas visit our website for exciting activities and attractions.
