Looking for days out this winter that won’t cost a penny,
but struggling to come across many?
There are so many beautiful places to take a walk and explore,
Along the beach, through the woods and so much more!

🐿 Formby Red Squirrel Walk, Liverpool 🐿

This easy walking trail is suitable for the whole family and your little furry friends too! Plus, the beautiful woodlands are home to the rare native red squirrel so make sure to keep your eyes peeled! – You may see one or two! Find out more here. 

🐞 Gibside, Tyne and Wear 🐞

Whether you are looking for a relaxing Sunday stroll or a longer hike with the family, walking at Gibside means you can do either! Stick to the path or venture off the beaten track, it’s up to you! There are several family trails for you to choose from, all guaranteed to provide you with breathtaking views and lots of wildlife along the way. 🦌 Deer Feeding at Attingham Park, Shropshire 🦌

It’s time for the fallow deers at this park to receive their winter rations! Visit at the weekend until 23rd February 2019, or any day during the February half-term school holidays, and watch the rangers feed the deers at 2:30pm in the deer park! There is plenty to see and do here, so after the feed why not enjoy a crisp wintry walk around the grounds, or take a run around the playfield or even pay a visit to Badgers House in the Bothy in the Walled Gardens. Pop on your walking boots, grab your four-legged friend and stretch your legs in Croft’s 1500 acre parkland! Enjoy some family fun as you explore the grounds with seasonal trails, in the school holidays, before testing your limits in the Wild Play Area. You won’t be disappointed with a visit to one of this countries finest landscape gardens, Stourhead in Wiltshire! With a lake in the centre and gardens filled with temples, follies and a planting scheme you can enjoy the spectacular display of colour. 🐴 New Forest National Park, Hampshire 🐴

The New Forest is the perfect place to take a wonderful walk this winter with family and friends. Choose from a variety of trails, all varying in length and difficulty.  Plus, keep the little ones entertained and have them on the lookout for adorable New Forest ponies and other wildlife that call the New Forest home! 🚣 Brownsea Bird Boats, Poole 🚣

Until the end of January, hop aboard a Brownsea bird boat at Poole Quay and sail to the delightful Brownsea Island for an exclusive guided tour around the lagoon. Planning on visiting with the family in February?  From the 1st February 2020 Brownsea Island is open for winter weekends, so wrap up warm and get ready for a bracing journey through woodland, heathland, beaches and clifftops. For a perfect day out for all the family, head to Sissinghurst Castle Garden and explore the wonderful Beatrix Potter exhibition. Here, you can find out what inspired her to create her characters and stories! 🌳 Winkworth Arboretum, Surrey 🌳

For refreshing walks, warming refreshments and wintery vistas through the Surrey countryside, Winkworth Arboretum is the place to go! Just don’t forget to bring your warm woollies and sturdy shoes. Plus, an exciting new Tree Adventure has opened at Winkworth, complete with a climbing wall, fireman’s pole, rope tunnel and ladders, it is the perfect way for children to let off some steam. 🌊 Horsey Beach, Norfolk 🌊

During the winter months, this unspoilt beach is home to hundreds of seals who visit the shore making it a great place to go for a family walk/ day out! The kids will just adore seeing the seals and messing around on the sandy beach. Just remember your gloves and hat as it may be slightly chilly.
