8 Fun ways to exercise at home

Lockdown is the perfect time to keep moving and stay healthy whilst at home,
There are plenty of fun ways you can exercise as a family or alone!
YouTube workouts, dance routines, or garden sports,
Take a look at our ideas and let us know your thoughts!

🏃‍♀️ 1. Join in with PE With Joe Wicks 🏃‍♀️

Streamed live on Wicks’ YouTube channel at 9am, Monday to Friday

Join Joe every weekday on his YouTube channel for a free home workout, specifically aimed at kids! The workouts are super fun and suitable for all ages – even adults can get involved!

👣 2. Live stream free Kids’ fitness classes 👣

Key players from the fitness industry and even Olympic athletes are also posting amazing workouts online, available to everyone!

Strictly Come Dancing champion and The Greatest Dancer Judge Oti Mabuse is offering live-streamed dance classes daily at 11:30.

Or perhaps ‘Football with Rising Stars’ is perfect for your child? Streaming live on Youtube Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays from 1pm kids can join in with the Rising Stars football skill classes.

Or are you kids missing their regular ballet class? Known online as The Balle Coach, Sarah De-Feu is offering 14 classes a week all streamed for free on Instagram and Facebook Live. They are also available to watch back on YouTube.

🏏 3. Play games and sports activities in the garden 🏏

If you’re are lucky enough to have a back garden there are all sorts of fun games and sports activities you can play as a family. If you have a few tennis rackets lying around or badminton rackets or even some footballs – there is so much you can do to keep little ones healthy and active with very little equipment. Even running races or some skipping.

🥎️ 4. Create an indoor obstacle course 🥎️

Indoor obstacle courses are always such fun and guaranteed to keep the kids occupied for a while! Here are a few ideas to get you started on creating your indoor obstacle course:
🔵 Crawl under or over a row of chairs
🔵 Throw a beanbag (or something small and light) into a laundry basket
🔵 Jump in and out of a hula-hoop
🔵 Walk on a balance board (you can use anything for this, just needs to be sturdy)

🚶 5. Go for a walk/run around your neighbourhood 🚶

(If feeling healthy and maintaining social distancing guidelines)

For your one form of exercise a day (as long as you are feeling healthy), perhaps go a run, walk or cycle with your family around your neighbourhood. – As long as these family members are in the same household of course.

🤸‍♀️ 6. Hold a headstand competition in the lounge 🤸‍♀️

Bring out your children’s competitive side (I doubt this will be hard) and hold a headstand competition! Your kids might not be able to balance on their head by themselves, so lend a helping hand if needed.

🐧 7. Hold relay races with an animal-themed twist 🐧

Why not get creative with your relay races, and have your children impersonate their favourite animal during the race instead. Think bunny hops and penguin waddles! This is a great activity for younger children.

💃 8. Throw a dance party with the people in your household 💃

Get the kids (and you!) moving together with some awesome dance games. You could all have a go at doing the macarena or cha-cha slide or perhaps your all feeling adventurous…why not create your own dance! The kids will have great fun inventing their own dance moves!

What have you been up to? We’d really love to know! Someone else might love it, and really want to have a go! If you’ve got ideas, suggestions or reviews, you can shout all about it on whatever channel you choose!
