24 Things to do in December

Why not ditch the chocolate Advent Calendar and enjoy count down to Christmas differently this year? Here are 24 things to do this December as Christmas approaches! Let the countdown begin! Xx

 1) Make Rustic Christmas Ribbon and Twig Tree Decoration

Bring the outside indoors by making some cute Christmas tree decoration. Not only are they easy to make and get your little Christmas artists crafting, but they’ll add a personal touch of rustic and natural festive colour to the house! Read here.

 2) Use Food Cutters to Make Star and Tree Shaped Sandwiches

Want to make packed lunches that are (almost!) too good to eat? Get your little ones making their own star and tree shaped sandwiches by using food cutters. Knowing that they’ve helped out is sure to get the eating even the crusts!

 3) Roast Marshmallows Over a Flame – A Candle Will Do!

Want to get that campfire feeling… but whilst inside in the toasty warm? Grab a blanket or two, some marshmallows to toast over a candle flame and snuggle up on the sofa to enjoy some festive family time!

 4) Visit a Christmas Market

There’s nothing quite like wrapping up warm for a Christmas market to get you in the festive spirit, where you can sip warming hot chocolate (or mulled wine for the adults!) as you take in the wonderful decorations and shop for unique gifts. Looking for a simple, yet cute, way to create Christmas decorations? Have a go at making paper snowflakes, which you can adorn the house with to create your own winter wonderland!

What says party better than a classic paper chain? Recycle old newspapers to create some quirky decor for the house!

 7) Read Christmas Stories – we love the ‘Jolly Christmas Postman!

Not only is reading Christmas stories perfect for getting us in the mood for the festive season, but it’s also a lovely way to spend time with your little elves and angels and to help them with their reading.

 8) Visit an Ice Rink!

 9) Drink Hot Chocolate with a Flake Outside

Was there ever a better time to make an indulgent hot chocolate than over the festive period? Make your hot chocolates (not forgetting the flake!) and head outside wrapped in your comfiest layers, gloves and scarves. Add a touch of sparkle to the joyfully simple activity of blowing bubbles by mixing fine glitter with the bubble solution! When the bubbles burst, you’ll be left with dainty sprinkles of glitter. Go for traditional Christmas colours, such as red, green and gold, and it’ll be just like having Christmas fairies leaving behind a festive trail!

What’s Christmas without mince pies? Make your own ‘homemade’ versions by using frozen pastry and ready made mince mix. We won’t tell if you don’t!

 21) Make Hanging Christmas Tree Stars using Silver Foil

Make some silver foil stars to transform your home intro a festive starry night dream! You could even add silver glitter or sequins for an extra twinkly effect!

 22) Clean Out and Donate Old Toys to Charity

Why not share a little joy to those who need the most? Donate some old toys the kids don’t play anymore to a local charity. It feels good to share and you will have extra storage for the new toys this Christmas!

23) Buy matching Christmas Pyjamas

Buy cute matching pyjamas for all family members (even when Dad says no!) and take a selfie together. Click! A sweet Christmas memory has been captured!

24) Write a Special Card for Teachers / nanny / sweet grandma who lives next door

Let the kids write a special card for their favourite teachers, nanny or a lovely neighbour you don’t talk to often. Feel the Christmas joy when you see their happy faces as they receive your sweet and thoughtful cards!
