What’s On This Half Term In Northern England and Scotland – February 2016

Here is our guide to fun events happening this February half-term in the North of England and Scotland.

A fantastic all-weather attraction where you will find worlds of illuminated fantasy, there are different zones which include ‘The Deep’ where you will see sharks, and jellyfish, as well as bugs, beasts and plants in ‘The Land of Giants’.

Fab Feb Family Fun; Lightwater Valley, Ripon, North Yorkshire, 17th – 21st February

Visit for an action packed family day of rides galore, giant inflatables and lots of furry animals to meet and feed including some very cute alpacas! See some amazing raptors and reptiles and let the kids go wild in the Angry Birds Activity Park.

Corgi Treasure Hunt; Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh, 16th – 20th February

This really is a Treasure Hunt with a difference aboard this famous ship! Keep your eyes peeled for mischievous cuddly toy Corgis that are hiding throughout the ship! There is a prize if you spot them all and you can upload a selfie for a chance of winning some tasty Britannia fudge…yum!

February Mid Term; Loch Lomond Shores, Alexandria, Scotland, 5th – 20th February

Don’t miss the fun activities planned for this half term! With fun characters to meet and great things to do from balloon modelling to glitter tattoos. Kids can decorate biscuits, have their faces painted or follow the Buggle Treasure Hunt.

February Half Term Zoo Club; Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens, Ponteland, Tyne and Wear, 15th – 19th February, 10am – 4pm

This fabulous zoo is offering an incredible experience to be a zoo keeper this half term! Best suited to kids aged between 5 and 15, they get to help keepers feeding and training the animals and much more. You can either book them in for the day or the entire week. Booking is essential.

Making Space: Soldering; Centre for Life, Newcastle upon Tyne, 15th – 19th February, 2 – 5pm

Bring the children to the Centre of Life this half term where they can give soldering a go. Suitable for kids aged 5 and above, pop along and have a go at making a badge with flashing lights – no experience necessary!

Blast Off! Eureka! National Children’s Museum, Halifax, West Yorkshire, 6th – 21st February, 10am – 5pm

If you have a mini space explorer in the family, this event is perfect crammed with cosmic activities galore. You’ll hear all about Tim Peake’s mission on the ISS and just how he got there. Learn how space has an effect on the body and see a replica space suit exactly like the one Tim Peake wore on launch day!

The kids will enjoy a living history lesson this half-term at this fantastic museum. Peggy and Fred will be there to show all the children what life was like in a pit village. They will find out about the grubby work Fred had to do every day and what Peggy did whilst he was down the mines!

Half Term Fun at Stockeld Park; Wetherby, West Yorkshire, 13th – 21st February, 10:30am – 6pm

Spend a great day with the family outside this half term. As well as exploring the beautiful Enchanted Forest, kids will have fun getting lost in the Maze and gliding across the real ice rink amongst the stunning woodland.

Half Term Activities; National Football Museum, Manchester, 13th – 21st February

There’s some brilliant fun foot-tastic activities planned for the kids this half term. There will be craft making and Sav’s Big Mouth challenge! On Saturday 13th book your little footie fanatics into a free skill sessions where they can learn some great tricks from museum coaches and join in with fun games.

Steam, Sweat and Sewers! Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester, 13th – 21st February

There is an action packed week planned full of fun family activities exploring the world of the Industrial Revolution. From storytelling sessions, weaving workshops and a fun hands-on workshop called ‘Goo in the Loo!’, to a Victorian fairground with traditional attractions such as a coconut shy, helter skelter and much more!

Bring the kids to these fantastic free events planned for half term! They will get to watch a brilliant magic show which promises lots of fun audience participation, and listen to some great music, poetry and stories.

Half Term Activites; Merseyside Maritime Museum, Liverpool, 6th – 21st February, from 1pm

Pop along to this museum over half-term to join in with lots of fun free drop-in activities. Kids can listen to stories, make lots of arts and crafts and search the ship for signs of smuggling!
