Have a go at making this sprinkle sponge cake,
Baking is the perfect homeschooling break!
This recipe is super kid-friendly, easy and fun too,
the kids will love it and so will you!
What you will need:
⭐️ 200g butter/margarine
⭐️ 175g caster sugar
⭐️ 1tsp vanilla extract
⭐️ 3 eggs
⭐️ 200g self-raising flour
For the decoration:
⭐️ 225g icing sugar
⭐️ 2-3 tbsp of water
⭐️ sprinkles
How to make:
1. Preheat your oven to 160 degrees c / 335 degrees F or Gas Mark 3. Make sure to grease your tray and line with baking paper too.
2. Next, cream the butter and sugar together until it is light and fluffy. I used an electric whisk for this, so if you have one you may find it best to use it too!
3. Add the vanilla extract and one egg at a time and whisk.
4. Now, start to slowly add the flour and fold into the mixture carefully.
5. Add the mixture into the pan /cake tin and make it is spread evenly to the edges.
6. Place in the oven for around 25-30 minutes until it is golden brown. I find it useful to check it is cooked by poking a hole into the cake with a knife – if it comes out clean it is cooked!
7. Leave to cool for 15 minutes, then comes the fun part – the icing! Pour the icing all over the top of your cake and sprinkle over your hundreds and thousands.
