Tasty Treats in Six Minutes or Less

There are never enough hours in the day,
When your children always want to eat and play!
Why not make them a speedy treat,
To keep them quiet and get some time off your feet!

For all of these recipes, you’ll need a large, microwave-safe mixing bowl. Make sure there is a lot of room as some of these mixtures can bubble up when cooked. Also be aware that the mixtures and the bowl can get very hot so make sure there are no kids under your feet when making these!

Indulgent Chocolate Fudge

This fast and super easy fudge recipe is great for a last minute gift or a cheeky late night snack, plus you only need three ingredients. You’ll need:

• 1 tin of sweet condensed milk
• 200g of milk chocolate chips
• 1tbsp of vanilla extract

Step 1

Prepare a baking dish by lining it with greaseproof paper so that it hangs over the edges of the dish (this makes it much easier to remove later!) and butter the dish.

Step 2

Empty the condensed milk and chocolate chips in a bowl and microwave for about 30 seconds on the highest setting, then take it out and stir. Repeat this until the chocolate chips are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Then stir in the extract.

Step 3

Pour the mixture into the baking dish and let it sit in the fridge for about an hour.

Step 4

Remove the fudge from the dish by pulling up the greaseproof paper, cut into squares and enjoy!

Chewy Caramel Bites

These little caramels are so quick and easy to make, plus they can be used in any recipe that requires caramel such as chocolates and brownies. You’ll need:

• 60g of butter
• 65g of white sugar
• 65g of brown sugar
• 115ml of corn syrup
• Pinch of salt
• 120 ml of milk

Step 1

Prepare a baking dish by lining it with greaseproof paper so that it hangs over the edges of the dish (as you did with the fudge) and butter the dish.

Step 2

Pour all of the ingredients into the bowl and microwave for 90 seconds on the highest setting, take it out and stir thoroughly – be careful the bowl and mix will be very hot. Repeat this 3 or 4 times so that the mix is smooth.

Step 3

Pour the mixture into the baking dish and let it cool. You can even add a drizzle of chocolate for added sweetness.

Step 4

Once hardened, removed the caramels from the dish, cut into small squares to eat, about ½ centimetre works best.

Gooey Chocolate Brownies

These microwave chocolate brownies are a perfect melt-in-your-mouth recipe and only take about 3 minutes to make! You’ll need:

• 2 eggs
• 230g of white sugar
• Pinch of salt
• 1tbsp of vanilla extract
• 125ml of melted butter
• 100g of flour
• 70g of cocoa powder

Step 1

Beat the eggs until light, then mix in the sugar, salt, vanilla extract and melted butter one by one ensuring that each ingredient is fully mixed in before adding the next one.

Step 2

Fold in the cocoa powder and flour until almost completely smooth.

Step 3

Pour the mix into a microwave-safe baking dish and cook in the microwave for about 3 – 4 minutes or until it is about 75-80% cooked. There should still be some moisture on top as it will finish cooking as it cools.

Step 4

Lightly frost with icing sugar and cut into bitesize pieces.
