The Great British Food Festival, Ragley Hall, Warwickshire; 12th-13th September, Adult £8.50 Child (5-12yrs) £4.50 Under 5’s free Family £25, all ages

This fabulous foodie festival over two days has lots of activities for the children including kids cookery lessons, plus plenty for the adults too. In the mix are cake competitions, live music, Men V’s Food challenges and top chef demos from Masterchef and Great British Bake Off finalists, and wine and real ale bars. This really is the recipe for a fantastic weekend!

Albert Dock Pirate Festival, Liverpool; 12th -13th September, 11am-5pm, Free, all ages

Attention pirate lovers young and old! Dress up in your finest and head down to Albert Dock where there is so much entertainment for all the family to enjoy. Highlights include; a parade, a live pirate battle on the water, and on the Saturday Cook and Line from Cbeebies ‘Swashbuckle’ will be performing which the kids won’t want to miss!

Meet the Octonauts, Weymouth SEA LIFE Adventure Park and Tower, Dorset; 5th-20th September, Adult and Child £16.50 (pre-booked online) Under 3’s free, all ages

Join the Octonauts Training Academy where the kids can become their favourite Octonauts characters whilst learning about real sea life creatures through hands-on activities. They will even meet Kwazii and Peso in person before receiving their very own Octonauts certificate and medal for completing their training!

Fort Viking Festival, Fort Community Centre, Edinburgh; 12th September, 10am-4pm, Adult £2 Child £1, under 3’s free, all ages

Learn about the Viking times through storytelling and an array of interactive entertainment at Fort Community Centre. There will also be craft activities and falconry, as well as craft and food stalls plus a hog roast.

The Summer Takeover, Camden Arts Centre, London; 13th September, 12-5pm, Free, all ages

Visit Camden Arts Centre for a one day festival of fun artist-led activities which all the family will enjoy. Activities include bunting making, life drawing, bell ringing in the garden, and the popular family workshop Make & Do.

Open Doors – Tredegar House, Newport, Wales; 12th-13th September, 11am-5pm, Free, all ages

Visit Tredegar House and Gardens as part of Open Doors Wales which celebrates Welsh heritage organised by CADW. There will be games, trails and challenges for the kids and a whole host of interesting talks for the adults too. Visit the house and discover how a Victorian kitchen operated and explore the walled gardens.
