This week there’s fun family festivals, a huge free seaside air festival, a funky disco and lots more for families to enjoy!

Every weekend in the British Museum family can visit the Samsung Digital Discovery Centre where there’s a range of activities for the family to enjoy. You can have fun turning yourselves into a Pharaoh or Egyptian god, make a timelapse video or even make some shadow puppets.

If you and your little ones love to boogie, then put on your disco shoes and head to this event! Take all the family along to grove away to some funky tunes, get your faces painted, join a limbo competition and have fun playing a range of games.

Bournemouth Air Festival, 20th – 23rd August, free

Over four days Bournemouth has an action-packed line up of displays and family entertainment happening along the seafront, and it’s all free!! There’s going to be some awesome planes including the Vulcan and the Red Arrows, demonstrations by the armed forces, live music and many stalls along the seafront.

Meet Hopefields Creepy Crawlies, Hopefield Animal Sanctuary, 17th -23rd August, 11am -4pm, Adult £4 child £3

Visit this brilliant animal sanctuary to meet a whole bunch of creepy crawlies that call the sanctuary home. There will also be face painting, sand art glitter tattoos and a bouncy castle for all to enjoy. You can also see all the other lovely animals that live in the sanctuary.

End of Summer Event, Kimberley, 22nd August 11am – 6pm, free

This fab event has lots of family fun planned throughout the day! You can build a sandcastle on the beach, go for a pony ride, get your face painted, play some traditional games such as the tin can alley and so much more! This event is raising money for The Ryan Lee Trust.

Kirkley Hall Activity Day, Kirkley Hall Zoological Gardens, Ponteland, 23rd August, 10am – 4pm, Entry from £5pp

Pack up a picnic and spend a fantastic day outdoors at this big family day out! There promises to be lots of fun activities for the kids including a thrilling 120 meter zip wire, high ropes course and the chance to have a go at archery and lots more! For a small extra charge why not take a look around the zoo as part of your day out, where you can enjoy some animal encounters and handling sessions in the petting barn.

 Just So Festival, 21-23 August, Cheshire

This smaller (5,000 capacity) festival has won many awards for being extremely family friendly. They offer a safe and relaxed festival with a packed schedule of activities for all the family. Over the weekend in the woodland setting there will be wild gypsy music, appearances by authors and poets, workshops and storytelling.

 Bristol International Kite Festival, 22nd – 23rd August, free

The skies around Bristol’s Durdham Downs are going to be full of colourful kites in a huge variety of shapes and colours. There will be spectacular displays of Japanese fighting kites doing mock aerial combat and even synchronised routines to music. The kids can join a kite making workshop, have a go at some craft activities and jump on the bouncy castles.
