If you’re looking for some alternative Autumn fun,
A woodland walk might be the perfect one!
Get the kids excited for an Autumn stroll,
If being stuck indoors is taking its toll!
A great way to get the kids outside is to go on a woodland walk especially during the Autumn! I’ve thought of some ideas to make a woodland trail walk interesting for kids.
1. Plan a scavenger hunt 🔍
Having a scavenger hunt with your little ones is a great way to turn a walk into an interactive activity. See our blog on ideas for a scavenger hunt here.
2. Do bark/leaf rubbings 🍂
Take some crayons and paper with you on your walk! Then look for some leaves to get a leaf rubbing of. You can try and make it a competition between your kids and see who can get 5 different ones!
3. Collect twigs, leave and stones 🍁
Whilst out on a walk, make sure to collect items to make pictures with! Check out our video of a craft idea for leaves and our idea of what to do with pine cones here.
4. Climb trees 🌲
Climbing trees is such a fun activity to do! Make sure the tree is safe to climb and that there is always an adult supervising at all times.
5. Balance on fallen logs 🚶♀️
If you find any logs that have fallen down, make a challenge of who can walk on the furthest along without falling!
6. Play hide and seek 🙈
Hide and seek is game which all little ones love! Plus, trees make great hiding places. Make sure to just set an area of where they are allowed to go and hide in.
7. Play I spy, as you walk 🕵️♀️
Playing games like I spy is a good way to keep walking interesting for kids! You can also go through the alphabet and find an item that starts with each letter.
8. Play a game of conkers
Conkers will be all over forests in Autumn, so get the kids to search for them and start a conkers battle!
9. Splash in puddles ☔️
Make sure to wear wellies and stomp in puddles. Make it a competition and see who can make the biggest splash!
10. Geocaching 📱
Geocaching is like a treasure hunt but using GPS to locate containers that are hidden! This is a great way for kids to forget that they’re walking as they’re so immersed with trying to find the treasure.
What have you been up to lately? We’d really love to know Someone else might love it, and really want to go! If you’ve got ideas, suggestions or reviews, you can shout all about it on whatever channel you choose!
