Perfect Summer Days in London

Although we love the Summer hot days in London can sometimes be a bit unbearable! So when the weather is gorgeous make the most of it and stay cool with these awesome London days out ideas – from Lido to Ice Cream parlours! 🙂

Lidos

All over London there are a number of outdoor lidos where you can go for a swim including the Serpentine Lido where the water is pleasant enough in summer, plus there’s plenty of room to sunbathe, a chlorinated paddling pool, sandpit and swings.

Other Lidos include Hampstead Heath Swimming Ponds, Tooting Bec Lido, Charlton Lido, Finchley Lido, Brockwell Lido and lots more!

Barefoot Walk at Kew Gardens

Kew gardens is giving you the chance to experience nature without the need for shoes in their arboretum this summer. You can balance on beams, hop across tree trunks and feel all the textures, kids will particularly enjoy the muddy ‘squelch’ zone. If the weather is especially hot you can enjoy the shade the trees offer. Find out more.

London’s Many Ice Cream/Gelato/Frozen Yogurt  Parlours

Nothing beats eating an ice cold treat on a summers day! My personal favourites are Snog’s frozen yoghurt and Scoop for their mouthwatering gelato.

Diana Memorial Playground & Fountain.

This wonderful children’s playground is right next to Diana, Princess of Wales’ Kensington home. There’s plenty for the kids to explore with a large wooden pirate ship, sensory trail, toys, sculptures and teepees.

Within Hyde Park you will also find the Diana Memorial Fountain where you can dip your toes in and the kids can splash around, the water in the fountain is shallow. Find out more.

Somerset House Fountains

In the summer months outside the grand somerset House there are 55 dancing fountains for you to admire. The kids will love running between the jets and watching the orchestrated sequences. Would be wise to bring spare dry clothes. Find out more.

The Phoenix Garden

This charming community garden is a mini oasis in London in London’s West End. The sustainable garden is a wildlife haven there are a number of different habitats that  look great all year round. Bring a picnic and enjoy the beauty of the garden. Find out more.

Take a RIB boat ride down the Thames

Take an exhilarating ride along the Thames, the skipper will make a number of turn and manoeuvres as you have to hold on tight. As you are going quite some speed you will be covered in spray and the wind will instantly cool you. There are a number of companies offering these rides including Thames RIB Experience , London Rib Voyages and Rib Tours London.

Visit the many Galleries and Museums

Many of the galleries /museums have to be kept cool to protect their exhibits and artefacts. Enjoy temperatures as low as 18°C whilst seeing some exciting exhibitions. Find out more.
