Let’s go to Godstone Farm, a family day out with lots to explore!

We sent local Mummy and amazing photographer Shona Hanmer and her 3-year-old son Marlo to Godstone Farm in Surrey to enjoy a mid-week day out! Here’s what she got up to!

When it comes to a fun-filled day, Godstone Farm in Surrey sure has a lot to offer. With a large variety of farm animals to visit, many educational activities, various outdoor play areas and a large indoor play barn if the weather turns bad there is plenty to do and some leftover for the next visit.

I took Marlo there mid-week to beat the crowds, we arrived at opening time and stayed till around 2pm by then Marlo’s little legs were tired. It’s a large place but very accessible for buggies and wheelchairs. We headed straight for the small animals as Marlo was very excited to meet them and he absolutely loved getting to hold a rabbit and stroke the very friendly chickens. We were lucky enough to see day-old chicks and lambs too. I let Marlo lead the way and after having a quick go on the ride-on tractors and a look in the snake cave he spotted the indoor play barn. It’s the perfect size to let him go in on his own, he’s 3 and was confident getting around it all and I sat with a lovely coffee from the cafe while able to see him the whole time.

After a good 40 minutes, I had to peel him away to have lunch before feeding the pigs. We found a sheltered spot by the small animals for our packed lunch, there are so many areas available which is great and lots of handwashing stations everywhere. There is a large cafe as well with lots of variety for lunch and snacks and in the summer there are other snack stations open as well.

Onwards to meet the pigs and Marlo was so excited about this, he loved Pebbles and Dolores and was able to help feed them and the mum of the newborn piglets. I think this was a highlight for him and we spent so much time with the pigs we missed the tractor ride, but we’ll save that for next time!

We finished with a stroll up the hill past the donkeys to the huge outdoor play area, Marlo was having a great time then, of course, needed the loo but luckily there are toilets dotted around everywhere so you’re never too far away. I think the facilities are what make Godstone Farm so family-friendly.

Although I could tell Marlo was tired he wasn’t too keen to leave so to end such a lovely day I let him pick a toy from the gift shop. He was spoiled for choice and I was pleased with the selection and value for money.

We had such a wonderful day and can’t wait to go back as there is plenty there to do over and over again in all weathers!
