Larmer Tree Festival 2016

Larmer Tree Festival – Wiltshire – 13th – 17th of July

Larmer Tree is such a super cool family-friendly festivals AND this year the weather Gods were on our side and blessed us with some of the best sunshine we’ve seen all year – hoorah!! But what really made this festival amazing was the warm and friendly Larmer Tree Festival team who were on hand to guide you to the right campsite and make sure you had everything you needed right from the time you arrived until you left – they couldn’t have been more helpful!

If you are savvy festival go-er you will have already seen these before. These kid-buggies were such a clever idea.! Everywhere little ones  were being scooted around on wheels, enjoying the sights and sounds of the festival- perfect for saving tired little legs or letting them have a snooze in the sun!

Most of this festival is very child-friendly and has a great atmosphere (just a few places and activities that are adult only) but the best place for families was the Family Lawns which played host to loads of children’s workshops and entertainers including Mr Bloom and Mr Pineapple Head!

I particularly enjoyed the kids’ African drumming workshop and even though 30 small children with bongo drums might not sound like the best idea, with the help of some very talented musicians the kids all came together and made some pretty awesome music and rhythms!

Even when the workshops and entertainers weren’t on there were loads of areas where kids and families could go to create or play.

And loads to discover too! Such as there adorable little doors that were appended to rocks and trees to pay homage artists that meant a lot to Larmer Tree Festival but sadly couldn’t be there.

The family areas are even decorated with kids art which has been created at the festival, with new pieces springing up in the trees and bushes as the festival went on.

As well as catering for kids, the adults also enjoyed some amazing artists and comedians. In between the sets there were performers wandering around the festival and getting everyone involved (young and old!) to perform mini skits. We were delighted by the Summer rave tunes by the Cosmic Cocktail Girls and the naughty Grannies riding their trollies had the whole family in stitches!

The festival was really brought together by the amazing decorations that had clearly had a lot of thought and creative energy put into them – and gave me lots of ideas for my own crafts!

There were lots of pretty light fixtures in the trees that caught the sun in the day and glowed at night!

And this knitted planter is so cute yet so easy! Think I might bring a bit of Larmer Tree to my own back garden with one of these.

Overall, Lamer Tree Festival was yet again an amazing event with such a great atmosphere and a real sense of community between festival-goers. Even if you’ve got very young kids this festival goes out of its way to make sure families are catered for and have a great time. I would recommend this festival to anyone who loves a relaxed and chilled out event and wants to share that with their kids – keep an eye out for next years dates as you will not what to miss it!
