Halloween Hanging Bat Craft for Kids

Looking for ways to ‘hallow up’ the house with lots of creepy (but cute!) decorations this Halloween? This easy to make hanging bat not only recycles your toilet roll holders but will keep your little monsters occupied too!

Get your little ones started by using a hole punch to cut out two holes from the toilet toll tube for the pipe cleaner. You may need to help extra little ones with this one!

Next, get them painting their loo toilet roll tube with a coat of black paint. Acrylic works best for this, as its thick and will only need one coat!

As the paint is drying, cut out your bat’s wings. You can draw a template to make this easier if needed, and double up the card to cut out both wings at the same time.

Then, cut out two small triangles in black card for it’s ears. Do the same, but slightly smaller in white card, for its fangs. Place these all to one side.

Grab a pipe cleaner and cut it in half. Feed the pipe cleaner through the two holes in the toilet roll tube.

To make it’s feet, cut off approximately one inch of the pipe cleaner and wrap it around the leg. Then, bend the the bottom of the leg to create a hook that your bat can hang from. Repeat on the other leg.

Cut out some purple felt to create your bat’s tummy! Glue the back of your purple felt and attach it to the front of the holder.

Now, glue the eyes, ears and fangs to the front of the holder. Follow this by gluing the wings to the back.

When all of the glue has dried, find a home for your new fanged friend! How about perching it on a shelf, pot plant branch or make a few to hang upside down from a Halloween garland?

Don’t forget to show us your Halloween creations on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! 😀
