Leicester Museum & Art Gallery

Explore the galleries in this amazing Museum, from Ancient Egypt, Wild Space, Dinosaurs, the Victorian Art Gallery, Arts & Crafts Gallery and many more! Plus, there’s many talks and children’s handling sessions for your little ones to enjoy! If you fancy treating yourself, why not have a look around the gift shop or stop at the cafe for bite to eat! Abbey Park

Head north of the city centre to find the beautiful Abbey Park divided by a boating lake! See the remains of the twelfth century Leicester Abbey and a seventeenth century mansion on one side and a highly decorative Victorian east side of the park with evergreen shrubberies, a miniature railway, flower displays and some amazing trees. Take a look at some amazing plants from all around the world in the extensive collection at Botanic Garden. See a restored Edwardian Garden, an arboretum, a herb garden, woodland and herbaceous borders, a water garden, rock gardens, and much more! Charnwood Museum

Charnwood Musuem is located in the former Victorian swimming baths! It displays the rich heritage of the local area, showcasing a variety of exhibitions which reflect the archaeology, history, geology and industries of Charnwood and the areas surrounding it. See exhibits such as ‘Earning a Living’, ‘Coming to Charnwood’, and ‘Living off the Land’ where you could have a go at basket making! Plus, there’s a Queen’s Park cafe if you get peckish throughout the day! Find out more.

Ashby de la Zouch Musuem

This local independent history museum established in 1982, won Museum of the year in Leicestershire in July 2007 and July 2010! It is host to not only over 3,000 historical photographs from the 1870s to the present day but also films displaying the history of the local area! Take the family along and dress up in a 17th century costume or meet a soldier in full battle dress! Find out more.

Manor Farm

Take a trip to Manor Farm for some amazing local and homegrown food! They have won many awards including “Best Cream Tea” and they have a gold star rating for their fruit cake! See the sheep, cattle, horses, pigs, chickens, and ducks of the farm and look out for craft activity events throughout the year! If you fancy treating yourself, take a look around the gift shop that sells the farm’s own produce as well as local products! They often have fruit and vegetable boxes at amazing prices made up and ready to collect. This is a great way to get your kids excited about eating their veggies when they’ve seen them come from the farm! Find out more.
