Free Days Out This Weekend 23rd-24th January

Can you believe we are STILL in January! This month may be seriously dragging but we’ve found some super cool boredom busters for this weekend to keep the kids (and adults) entertained, oh and they’re FREE! Yippppeeeee!

The Story of Children’s Television; Portsmouth City Museum, Hampshire, 23rd and 24th January, 10am-5pm

Don’t miss this fab exhibition which children (and adults) of all ages will love. There is over 70 years of memorabilia telling the story of children’s tv and you will see merchandise from popular shows such as The Wombles, Woodentops, Morph, and Rastamouse! With lots of interactive fun and reminiscing, this really is worth a visit!

Big Garden Birdwatch; Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield, 23rd and 24th January

Come along with all the family and join in with this annual wildlife survey to see how many feathered friends you can see! This weekend you will find out how you can get involved ready for the big birdwatch which is the following weekend!

Geocraft: Programming Minecraft using Python; Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester, 23rd-24th January, Shows at 10am, 12pm, 1pm, and 4pm

If your kids are hooked on the extremely popular game of Minecraft, bring them along to this fab drop-in interactive science show which uses the Python programming language on the Raspberry Pi to interact with the wonderful world of Minecraft! Don’t worry, if you have a Minecraft fanatic in the family they will understand this even if you don’t!

Facepainting; Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester, 23rd-24th January, 10am-4pm

To celebrate “Light Fantastic” weekend at the museum, bring the little ones along to get their faces painted, of course with a light-themed design!

Pop-Up Performances; Victoria and Albert Museum; London, 23rd and 24th January, 11am, 1pm and 3pm

Come along and watch the performance team put on a very cool interactive play suitable for all the family including lots of fun activities! This is running each Saturday until 19th March and each week there will be a different theme, with a very special under 5’s event each month!

Tintin: Herges Masterpiece; Somerset House, London, 23rd and 24th January, 10am-6pm

Come along and explore the popular character Tintin along with his creator Herge. Both the kids and adults will be thoroughly entertained by a show which even uses artefacts from the Herge Museum in Brussels. Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for Snowy the dog!
