Here are some days out for under £25 for a family of 4!
Hounslow Urban Farm
(Family 2 adults, 2 kids – £20)
Enjoy a family day down on the farm exploring over 29 acres full of different animals. There are daily events including a piggy meet and greet, the chance to meet various animals and even owl displays. Kids can go wild in the outdoor play area too.
Carisbrooke Castle, Isle of Wight
(Family ticket – £17.08)
Bring your little knights and princesses to explore this imposing castle that has survived 800 years of service and sieges. There is plenty to explore with turrets, walls, corridors many rooms and spectacular views to enjoy. The children will especially love being able to dress up as Norman soldiers or Civil War Troopers, meeting the castles donkeys and seeing them work.
Liberty’s Owl , Raptor and Reptile Centre
(Family 2 Adults, 2 kids – £11)
This excellent bird of prey and reptile centre has plenty of magnificent creatures for you to meet and learn fascinating information about. The centre is named after Liberty the Alaskan Bald Eagle, one of the many birds of prey that they have on display at the Centre. Families can get up close and personal with magnificent owls, hawks, falcons and vultures, as well as a collection of Reptiles and other creepy crawlies in the Reptile House. See some of the residents take to the air in the all year weather arena.
Puzzlewood, Coleford, Gloucestershire
(Family 2 Adults, 2 Kids – £25)
Puzzlewood is the perfect place for you and your family to get lost in! Explore your way through the 14 acre ancient woodland and discover some fascinating yew trees, bridges, lookouts and twisted rocks! As well as the mazes there are some fantastic animals, including donkeys, cattle, pygmy goats and much more. There are two indoor mazes and an outdoor playground for the kids to go wild in.
Corfe Castle, Dorset
(Family, 1 adult and up to 3 kids – £23.75)
Bring the family here to see iconic ruins of this historic castle. There is plenty to explore and see as you make your way around. Discover 1,000 years of history and try spot the ‘murder holes’ and count the arrow loops, the castle was partially demolished during the Civil War. The children can complete a quiz as they make their way around and there is a family guide too.
Butser Ancient Farm, Hampshire
(Family 2 adults, 2 kids – £20)
Butser Ancient Farm is a fascinating place to visit. Using evidence obtained from excavations, it is a reconstructed working farm from the Iron Age. See houses built from clay, wood and thatch and some rare breed sheep and goats. Find out what people ate and how they survived from the Stone Age to the Anglo Saxons. Kids can dig up artefacts, listen to fascinating talks, follow trails and drink hot chocolate around the fire. They have recently welcomed the arrival of two cute baby goats who are definitely worth meeting!
Mid Suffolk Light Railway, Stowmarket, Suffolk
(Family 2+2 – £24)
A quaint little museum that holds great ‘Steam Days’ and has running trains for you and the family to ride on. The museum has photographs and history of the local railway and the trains. You can ride up and down the short track all day and talk to the helpful volunteers who can answer all your questions and might even let you get in the cab.
Pirate Island Adventure Golf, Norwich
(Adult – £6, Child £4)
If you fancy doing something different with the family then bring them here to this themed and adventure golf course. With 18 holes to navigate around using your putter avoid the tricky obstacles which include a pirate galleon and jungle. Perfect for all ages and a great way to spend an hour or so.
Tropical World, Leeds
(Adults – £6, Kids – £3)
For an exotic experience take the family to Tropical World in Leeds where there’s the largest collection of tropical plants in the UK outside of Kew Gardens. There are different areas ready for you to explore such as Tropical Island, Desert House, South American House, Butterfly House and Tropical World Tour. As you walk around try to spot the meerkats, terrapins, leaf cutter ants and tropical birds. Find out more
