Fresh air, peace and time away,
Start planning your Autumn camping trip today!
A fun-filled weekend break for the kids too,
Here are our top camping tips just for you!
With all the day-to-day busyness of schools, work, after-school clubs and homework it can be hard to find the time to take your kids on an adventure! That is why a mini camping trip one weekend this Autumn is a perfect idea. Autumn is a favourite time of year for many campers because the weather is slightly cooler, the campgrounds are less crowded and there’s no season like autumn for the amazing scenery!
🔦Light up your campsite 🔦
Make sure you have sufficient lighting equipment for those long nights. Torches, headlamps and lanterns are always a good shout. On another note, longer nights mean shorter days so make sure you arrive at the campsite well before the sun sets to prevent pitching up in the dark. – I mean it’s difficult, and not too mention rather embarrassing, attempting to set up your tent at 10pm in your car’s headlights!
💤A warm sleeping bag 💤
Whilst the weather should be rather mild in Autumn, the nights still can be rather chilly so investing in a warm sleeping bag is going to be essential! We recommend checking your sleeping bag has at least a 2-3 season rating, or preferably a 3-4 season bag! Packing a few extra blankets too is a good shout.
🧦 Spare layers – Packing warm clothes, extra socks, gloves, layers hats and scarves 🧦
Pack lots of spare layers, this way you can add and remove layers as you please!- and avoid hearing the little ones complaining they are too hot or too cold every 5 seconds!😂
⛺️ Ventilation ⛺️
The colder air does mean the condensation can potentially make the inside of your tent wet! But there is no need to worry as this can be easily avoided, simply make sure your vents are open!
📷 Pack your camera 📷
The outdoors really comes to life in the Autumn months, so it is the perfect time to snap wildlife and scenery shots. You will for sure capture those “no filter” moments on your camera that will look great on social media!
☀️ Sun protection and insect repellent ☀️
Sun protection and insect repellent are two essential items when you’re having fun in the outdoors any time of year!
☔️ Waterproofs ☔️
A good waterproof jacket is recommended when camping during the Autumn period, as you just never know with the weather! Autumn is notoriously changeable, one minute it might be sunny and the next raining with strong winds. So, it’s better to be safe, and pack and plan accordingly, than sorry…right?
🚵♀️ Enjoy the outdoors 🚵♀️
Not too hot, nor too cold… a camping trip in autumn is the perfect time to get outside and enjoy the forest before the leaves fall! Walk, cycle, hike or run and experience the stunning scenery that autumn brings. Plus, many campsites in the autumn period will increase the number of activities on-site, the kids will love pumpkin picking and carving ready for Halloween! Or a game of conkers!
