5 Reasons to visit the Postal Museum this Easter

Let’s go to the Postal Museum this Easter.
There is so much for all the family to explore!
Play, learn and even ride on the mail rail.
It’ll be so much fun, You’ll want to go back for more!

 1. Ride Mail Rail

Descend underground on an exciting and educational 15-minute journey into the former engineering depot of Mail Rail, the one-hundred-year-old post office railway onboard a miniature train into the original tunnels.  Learn about the people who worked on it and their lives below ground for up to 22 hours per day.

 2. Explore the Mail Rail Exhibition

Families can learn more about the story of the postal railway and see what it took to keep the network running on the interactive exhibition based in the abandoned engineering depot.  Discover the original trains that powered mail underneath London for over 80 years and learn about the engineering behind these fascinating loco-motives.  Fancy a challenge? Children can take on the task of racing against the clock to sort the mail.. on a moving travelling post office!
*Be sure to check out the ‘Jolly Postman Trail‘ – perfect for Toddlers and young children!

3. Aardman and Arts Special at the Postal Museum

From 9 -21 April 2019

The Postal Museum has paired up with the minds behind Wallace and Gromit to create an array of activities for all ages – but don’t worry, there will be no Were-Rabbits in sight! Entertainment seekers looking for a great half-day out with the family will have the chance to make their own Shaun the Sheep or Gromit model with an Aardman expert model maker, watch a family-friendly screening of a Wallace & Gromit favourite, design their own tote bag or even create their own stamp-inspired selfie sculpture.  There is even a family Easter egg hunt with a chocolate prize taking place on 20th & 21st April. Check out the timetable here

4. Discover ‘Voices from the Deep’

Until 30th June 2019

Voices from the Deep is a temporary exhibition which displays over 700 personal letters that have been trapped at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean in a sunken ship for nearly three-quarters of a century.  From Soldiers writing to loved ones, to businessmen and missionaries, the letters offer a fascinating insight into the lives of ordinary people living in extraordinary circumstances during the Second World War.  Families can use a UV torch to reveal snippets of fragmented letters and watch original footage of these letters being recovered by Odyssey Marine Exploration.

 5. Kid’s will love Sorted! The Postal Play Space

Children aged 8 and under will love exploring this immersive mini-town complete with streets, buildings, slides and chutes! Dress up in multiple uniforms, weigh stamp and sort parcels and letters in the post office or even deliver mail around town in the mail van. There is even a dedicated space for crawlers too! There is so much role-play fun to be had for the little ones, they certainly won’t be bored. The play area is also available for private hire too!

What have you been up to? We’d really love to know! Someone else might love it, and really want to go! If you’ve got ideas, suggestions or reviews, you can shout all about it on whatever channel you choose!
