National motor museum

This summer get set for the daily motoring parades at the National Motor Museum! Vehicles of yesteryear will rumble into life and drive out of the Museum for demonstration laps of the Arena! There are also new exhibits on display in ‘Bond in Motion-No Time to Die’, such as the film’s Toyota Land Cruiser. Cotswold Motoring Museum & Toy Collection

Have a nostalgic glimpse into life on the road in years gone by! This rare collection of vehicles and classic memorabilia may take you back to your first car or motorbike that you used to ride! Until the 1st of September get hands-on in the new interactive Green Journey installation to imagine a greener London! Discover transport’s role in creating a sustainable city and make your children aware. From the 9th of August to the 23rd of August, local families with children under 5 can also take part in ‘Action’ to discover the world of London’s transport through play, singing and stories. Learn about the current Silverstone circuit with over 60 hands-on exhibits to fuel your family’s imagination this summer! Walk on parts of the original grand prix circuit or climb into a replica 1948 ERA Grand Prix car and take a family photo! Each panel within the museum has memorable stories of racing events and major changes at each corner.

Throughout August your kids can also build and test their own air-powered car and take their super-speedy creations home. Or encourage their creativity and try out brass rubbing, there will be a variety of car designs to create using this fun technique. Until the 5th of September you can celebrate the 100th birthday of the Austin Seven with the British Motor Museum! Make your own ‘Austin Seven’ car, give it its own personality by choosing from lots of colours and decorations and take it home when you’re finished! The Ulster Folk & Transport Museum takes you back in time to explore Ulster life 100 years ago. You’ll see cottages, farms, schools, and shops. There are visitor guides in full costume that will tell you stories and show you crafts. The Transport Museum is also full of classic cars, trains, motorbikes, fire engines and even electric trams! Get up close and personal with world-class racing cars! Home to the Martin Birrane Collection, Modello park offers a treasure trove of beautiful, historic racing cars! Composed of some iconic and rare machinery from the worlds of saloon and sportscar racing and Formula One, this really is a one-of-a-kind collection! Holding a special importance to the Mondello Park team is the amazing BMW M1 Pro Car within which Martin Birrane took the class victory in the Le Mans 24-hour race of 1985 and you have the chance to see it! Show the kids a 1962 Leyland “Comet” lorry with a most interesting and unusual history! Originally built to carry “lift vans” or containers before being converted into a recovery vehicle later in its carrer, this vehicle has an immense history! This museum has plenty of fully restored vans, buses and trucks produced by the British Commercial Vehicle Industry. Your little ones will even get the chance to drive the trucks which have been brought to life by lights and sounds! From hands-on displays to test your kid’s ingenuity and knowledge in solving logistical problems to special events which include craft fairs and model makers exhibitions there is so much to see!
